Installation
- Download the latest plugin ZIP.
- In WordPress, navigate to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Upload the ZIP file and activate the plugin.
- Go to Tools → ForeUP ALT Text Generator.
- Enter your OpenAI API Key.
- Save your settings.
- Scan your website and begin generating alt text.
Recommended Workflow
- Scan all site images.
- Images without alt text are added to the queue.
- Review the queue if desired.
- Click Auto Generate Alt Text.
- Monitor progress until complete.
Performance Notes
For optimal performance:
- Shared Hosting: 3–5 images per batch
- Managed WordPress (WP Engine): 8–10 images per batch
- VPS/Dedicated Servers: 10–15 images per batch
The plugin has a built-in maximum batch size of 20 images to help prevent PHP timeouts, excessive memory usage, and API rate-limit issues.
Important: Keep the browser tab open while AI generation is running. The current version processes images through your browser session.
